it was a night of celebration that ended tragically. tonight the new developments and we hear from friends and co-workers of the victims in the deadly limo fire. thank you for joining us. i'm ama dates. we have live team coverage from a witness account from the bridge. first abc7 news reporter nick smith has more from alameda where one of the survivors lives. nick? >> absolutely. ama, we are outside of the home of one of the survivors of the fire. her mother says she may be home soon. tonight new information. we spoke with co-workers who knew two of the victims of the fire, and for the first time a

photo of that new bride who died in the flames. the 31-year-old is out with friends in an upcoming ceremony in her native philippines. she lost her life in an unexplained fire. among the other four killed was michelle. the two, woulded together as nurses in fresno -- the two worked together as nurses in fresno. >> we are always smiling. we just walked on friday night. it is so hard on sunday morning that both of them died. it is unbelievable. they are good workers. >> reporter: this video shows the burning limo stopped on the san mateo bridge. you can see the charred

remains of what was left behind. five people were unable to get away and died inside. the driver escaped without injury and four others were taken to area hospitals. >> she was friendly. it is unfair to her. >> among the survivors, she suffered minor injuries and smoke inhalation. the women were headed to the crown plaza hotel in foster city where the newlied with's husband was waiting. the newlied with's husband was waiting. she was expected home tomorrow. they are expected to talk about the next steps. nick smith, abc7 news. >> nick, thank you. people who saw the fire say it was intense. lilian kim talked with two witnesses. she is live on the west side of the san mateo bridge. lilian? >> ama, this is where it happened just over 24 hours ago on the decline section of

the san mateo bridge. there were many people who drove by the burning limo including a brother and sister from daily city. daly city. >> oh there is traffic here. ma maybe there is an accident. >> she was driving home on saturday night with her brother, carlos when traffic slowed down in the westbound lanes of the san mateo bridge. they realized something was on fire when they saw a huge plume of smoke and then flames. this is video shot from their car. >> it was big. it was like fire. it was a lot. >> it happened just after 10:00 p.m. the chp is investigating how the fire started. witnesses reported seeing smoke come out from the rear of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. >> it was intense and the flames were pretty big. i could feel the window down and the heat from the fire. >> a couple of people pulled over to help, but they didn't think anyone was trapped in the limo. 24r* was no real sense of urgency include the women who escaped and the limo driver.

>> nobody was trying to go to the limo or ruche to the limo -- or rush to the limo with anything to break the window. >> it wasn't until they watched the sunday morning news that they realized five women were trapped and died in the fire. they will never forget the image of the survivors when they were driving by. >> three were on the floor crying on the floor. one was looking at the limo crying. it is so sad. >> limo stop owns the limo that went up in flames. according to state records the company's insurance, permits and license are up-to-date. live from the san mateo brimming, lilian kim, abc news. >> thank you, lilian. here are the names of the four women who survived, mary grace gardiana and jess moneyed and neria 1k3* amalia of san leandro. they range in age from 34 to 48 years old and being treated

there has been heavy showers and isolated severe thunderstorms making its way from south lake tahoe all the way up toward blue canyon. this system rotating in cloverdale was down 29 degrees today. san rafael you were down 23, 21 in concord. san jose down 16 degrees. more cooling tomorrow and another chance of seeing some isolated thundershowers. a look at the forecast coming up. >> it was a fun and festive day until they had to clear out santa clara street. things got tense as things got out of hand. sergio is live with a look at how police took action. sergio? >> most cindo de mayo celebrations this evening were pretty festive and they were also pretty controlled. except around 8:30 or so is when san jose police were called to santa clara street. you can see right now there is

hardly anyone driving up and down the street. that's because the situation they were called in to handle quickly got out of hand. officers on bikes and with crowd control batons responded to a call of a fight that broke out between two groups. according to initial reports by police, police were using poles from their flags to swing at each other, and then bottles were tossed. san jose police quickly moved in with dozens of officers to clear the streets. >> everybody was with their flags woo-hoo, sin co day mayo. cindo de mayo and then every year there is a problem and somebody ruins the fun. >> according to initial reports by police, people were -- there were no injuries. you can see from sky 7hd how systematically they cleared out block by block to make sure santa clara street were

clear and the clouds were dispursed. there were no arrested and there were no injury -- injuries. abc7 news. >> thank you. east palo alto police want to find a person who opened fire at a mcdonalds restaurant. victims include a six-year-old girl and her grandmother. it happened at the mcdonalds on ufort avenue and -- university avenue and bay road. the shooter aimed at a bus near the curb and four went in looking for help. they discovered other victimmed outside the restaurant. some of the victims might have been targeted. jay i don't believe it is a -- >> i don't believe it is just a random thing. several are gang members, but i won't say which that is. >> paramedics rushed all to the hospital and they are all expected to survive. >> new at 11:00, two pg&e workers are recferring from burns when a transformer failed.

look at this. we have home video of the eke plosion. of the explosion. the flash not only hurt the employees, but it damaged the equipment and caused a power failure. it happened around 3:15 in the bay view area. one employee suffered serious burns. 2600 customers were affected by the outage. nearly all power has been restored. a car hit a muni bus in the mission district. the outbound 28quintara was stopped at the light when the car couldn't negotiate the turn. one person claimed to be injured, but refused medical treatment. no one in the car was hurt. up next, finding a baby-sitter you can trust. michael finney has tips on what you can look out for to make sure your kids a safe. and teens driving and texting. the alarming new report about the growing threat on our road. and a soccer ref assaulted on the field.

finding a baby-sitter you can trust with the safety of your child can be challenging. now many parents are turn together internet to find a sitter. 7 on your side's michael finney checks out some of the websites parents are using. >> finding a god restaurant on yelp and booking it is easy and you are really not risking much. booking a baby-sitter on-line requires maury -- more research. most baby-sitter for hire sites offer background checks, but do you know what you are really getting? she is a working mom from

fairfax and uses care.com to find her sitters. >> i didn't use the background check. i just felt assured it was there. i went with calling references. i read reviews and ultimately went with my gut feeling. jay parents in the u.s. spend about $120 billion on child care each year. many are turning to the internet for help. andrea is the co-founder of urban sitter.com. >> there are 300 million baby-sitting bookings happening not necessarily on on-line, but every year in the united states. >> on most sites, a sitter posts their profile and it is up to the interested families to check the candidate's background. the three biggest sites are care.com, urban sitter and sitter city. they provide free babe bitter searches -- baby-sitter searches, but they provide a background check. the fees range from $25 to $150. all of the sites will check

public record databases for driving records and criminal convictions. and they share the detailed results with customers. however, some experts believe the site may not go far enough. >> the only resource in the state of california that has complete access to the california criminal history check of the fbi and the child abuse check is the trust line. >> mary beth philips helped find trust line. the certification for caregivers. she pushed for it in the 1980s after her baby-sitter shook her child so hard that the child was blientded. >> i know trust line has caught a lot because we caught them before they were with the kids jie. they check the child abuse index. it is a a database of abuse investigations in california. only law enforcement agencies have access. trust line is free to parents. it will only tell if an

applicant is cleared or not. heather is a sitter on the seeking sitter site. >> i went through background check and she had several questions for me. they got to know me before they recommended me on their website to families. >> the oklahoma-based seeking sitters recently launched in the bay area. the company does a background check and hires private investigators to review the information. stacy has twins and chose seeking sitters. >> referrals through other people are fantastic. if you don't know them as well it is nice to have someone that has done a background screening on the people who will be watching your children. >> they don't alls -- always predict future behavior. it can determine if an individual should or should not be working with children. other things to be taken into consideration is education, experience, skills and an interview with the

tahoe to blue canyon and heading up toward susanville. you will notice the last couple of frames starting to ease off. it is in association with the area of low pressure that has pretty much parked itself along the coast. last night it was to the east of us. it retro graded last night and early this morning. you can get a sense that it is pushing back toward the west. this is what is giving us a shot of isolated showers. maybe a little thunder tomorrow as well. san francisco right now 60 degrees. 61 in san rare loss and -- san carlos and half moon bay 57. another shot looking out toward the bay. santa rosa 56. 61 in fairfield and union city, 62. here is a look at our forecast highlights.

a few chances of a shower tonight. showers and possibility of some isolated thunderstorms possible tomorrow. better chance on monday afternoon and early evening hours. as we head toward thursday and friday get ready for the warmer temperatures and also more sunshine. overnight temperatures are generally in the 50s across much of the bay area. breezy to windy conditions near the coast. that low by tomorrow morning as you head out for that morning commute will be centered once again still off the coast you can see the moisture wrapping up around this thing, and as we head into the late afternoon hours we will get a nice break. but look what happens tomorrow evening just in time for the 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 commute hour. it will rotate back in here and even tomorrow night we will look for a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. you can get a sense of the counter clockwise flow. this thing will drive it in

and tuesday morning it will kickback to the east and that's when we with i will dry things up. monday, 72 for san jose. morgan hill 71. gilroy tomorrow 72 degrees. we will look for 67 for men low park. 67 for san mateo. san francisco tomorrow, sunshine , clouds, maybe even a sprinkle or two. 66 degrees there. and in the north bay 70 for santa rosa. sonoma 67. a chance of an isolated shower in the afternoon hours. oakland you can see there 69 degrees. east bay looks for an isolated thunderstorm. livermore 74 is 72 for concord. another chance on tuesday. by wednesday, thursday and friday we dry things up and high pressure builds back in with gives us some sunshine and we are back into the 80s. follow twitter for the latest bay area weather conditions

well, the sharks are tough to beat at home. they were in vancouver twice returning to the tank for a game three with a 2-0 lead. the canucks with cory schneider after missing four games. the sharks took advantage. there is no place like home. they are one and nine on the power play and special teams are three power play goals. the first of his two goals peats him for a 1-0 lead. three goals in two minutes and 27 seconds. the wrister right there and finds them 2-1 sharks.

>> good evening. i'm ama dates. in tonight's headlines, 31-year-old fohos was identified was one of five people who died in the fire on the san mateo bridge. the limo was on the way to the bride's brie tall shower when -- bridal shower when it exploded in flames. five people in limo managed to escape. six people including a child and her grandmother were shot and wounded outside a mcdonalds restaurant in east palo alto. the child was hurt by flying glass. y several of the victims were targeted and they called the violence gang-related. a sin cindo de mayo

celebration turned deadly as two crowds of people started fighting each other. no arrested were made. now to the investigation of the boston marathon bombing. federal officials are back in the cambridge apartment where tamerlan tsarnaev lived while his uncle arrived to prepare for him to be buried. >> reporter: investigators spent part of the day searching the apartment tamerlan tsarnaev shared with his wife. looking for any clues who they may have been in touch with before they bombed the boston marathon. this as controversy looms over tamerlan's body. the funeral has not found a cemetery that will accept the body. cemeteries across three states have refused to take. it three hours ago tamerlan's uncle arrived to the funeral home to help prepare the body by first washing it according to islamic custom.

pick up his car he thought they were joking when they said the car was stolen. >> it is treated like a crime lab. they steal evidence from the crime room? that's the same thing. >> somehow, someone was able to drive off the lot with his car. >> a public auction going on that day and the suspect gained entry and drove out of the lot past the security gate. >> san francisco police say it is brazen, but it is not their fault. >> i don't know what security measures they have in place for that storage lot. >> the city contract is not with the sfpd. it falls under the municipal transportation agency. >> there is a lot of security whether you are looking at armed guards and security infrastructure and alarms and video surveillance. >> we found all of those things when we visited auto return on the auction days.

cars. >> there was supposed to be an i-pod. >> we were there when wilson saw what was left of his total car. he wants police and auto return to stop leaving keys in i'm powbded vehicles. >> it leaves room for criminals to steel steal things earlier. >> they say keeping the keys with the towed vehicle is common practice. the employee working the gate the day the guard was stolen was disciplined, but would not elaborate on what that means. and now one last check of weather with leigh glaser. >> i went ahead and put some of the clouds on live doppler 7. we are seeing some of the high and midlevel clouds rotating from south to north across the bay area. a few returns here and there, and then definitely toward the sierra nevada. we will see increasing chances of showers and maybe isolated thunderstorm for the bay area
